Slean’s a runnin’ fool!
People – on September 26th, I’m going to attempt to run 13.1 miles, 21.1 kilometers, (a.k.a longer than I have ever run before) without falling down, weeping or generally making a spectacle of myself. Can I accomplish such a feat? Surely, with the help of a higher purpose. And that purpose is supporting Second Harvest! Why Second Harvest? Three reasons:
1) they feed the hungry (duh!)
2) they use high quality, fresh food that is surplus and would have been thrown out (recycling at its best! Doesn’t it break your heart to think of a nice bunch of spinach being tossed in the trash?)
3) they supply the St. Felix Centre, a place in Toronto where I have occasionally volunteered. There I watched great, generous people in action and was awed by their grace. Second Harvest and places like St. Felix go hand in hand – so since I can’t buy them a new wing or a rooftop garden or a great big stainless steel fridge just yet, I can RUN! Look out Forrest!
Please sponsor my run for Second Harvest and, while you’re there, have a look at my ridiculous picture. I couldn’t be more sincere. Who would put such a silly photograph up for public viewing if they were not sincere? Runnin’ fool indeed.
Thank you dear hearts!
Best,
Sarah Slean
